Commit to Never, Ever Quitting
Simple curiosity and amazing skincare turned into a life-changing decision with immeasurable rewards for Australia’s Jill Andrews.
I was introduced to Arbonne in 2007 by my dear friend ERVP Andrea Bouzrara. She sent me an email: “Arbonne is coming to Australia, and the opportunity to get involved in this company with these amazing products is not to be missed.” My first reaction was “No, that’s not for me. I don’t know the first thing about selling, I’m too busy, and what would people think of me?" However, I was curious. I had a lot of respect for Andrea and I was flattered that she thought I could be successful doing this.
When Andrea came for the launch of Arbonne in Sydney in July 2007, she visited me in Adelaide. She saturated me in beautiful skincare, talked about the business opportunity, and asked me, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” I realised that if I continued on my current path I would never achieve my goals of travelling more, retiring early, and giving more to charity.
So I took a leap of faith and jumped in with both feet. What was the worst that could happen? If I failed miserably I’d do so with fabulous skin! I did whatever Andrea told me to do, learnt as much as I could, and began to build a team. But then I got stuck. After three years my team wasn’t growing as fast as I’d hoped. On listening to a Learn & Burn, I discovered the importance of having a strong belief in four important areas: the products, the company, the network marketing industry, and myself. I realised that my original apprehension that this business was not for me, based on scepticism and lack of knowledge of network marketing, was holding me back. So I went to work on learning more about what I now know is the smartest business model available. If you are stuck at a certain level, maybe there’s a chink in your belief in one of those four areas. If so, go to work on your belief and build your confidence that Arbonne is the greatest gift we can give ourselves and other people.
I promoted to Regional Vice President after five years of working my Arbonne business alongside my fulltime job. Many Arbonne Consultants promote much faster than this, and I was often impatient to achieve the title of Regional Vice President and the white Mercedes Benz. But I came to appreciate that it’s not about the title and the car; it’s about finding the joy in the journey, connecting with people from the heart, and committing to never, ever quitting.
What I know for sure is that the rewards of having an Arbonne business are immeasurable, and the effort required to achieve whatever level of success you desire is definitely worth it. I said “yes” to Andrea and my life has changed in so many ways. I resigned from my day job of 15 years as a Recreation Planner in local government to be the CEO of my Arbonne business. I am able to offer my family more choices and more experiences, such as travel, theatre and quality time together. I have also started my own charity, which gifts new books to disadvantaged children so that they may know the joy of reading.
My dream of making a remarkable difference in people’s lives is a reality, and I am more excited than ever about what the future holds as I continue to grow personally and professionally. I have learned that your business can only grow as much as you grow, and my personal goal is to grow as a leader every day and foster independent leaders in my team.
Success in Arbonne comes with building a strong team of leaders who have a determination to succeed and achieve their goals and dreams. My thanks go to a number of leaders who are on this journey with me. ERVP Emily Paech, you are building your own massive organisation and I admire and respect your leadership. Sarah Nunn, Meegan Hill, Alison Rologas, Donna Annett, Mathilda Grist and Jayne Andrews, you are NVPs-to-be, and I am excited about your future.
To the many NVPs, RVPS, AMs, DMs and Consultants in my organisation, past and present, there are too many to name and so many I have yet to meet — thank you for taking that initial leap of faith and building your own Arbonne businesses. I appreciate you and I will always be here to support and cheer you on.
I am so grateful for the many wonderful people who have supported me along the way. A huge thanks to my upline Andrea Bouzrara, Trisha Dezenski, Maxine King and Cecilia Stoll for their ongoing coaching, recognition and cheers from across the ocean. Thank you to my sideline sister Priscilla Bokhara for running beside me, and to the many Arbonne sisters who inspire and teach me every day.
Finally, to my wonderful and supportive husband Greg and my children Jayne and Alex, thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me and for enabling me to take us on this crazy Arbonne adventure — the best is yet to come!
