Life By My Own Design
As a young girl, Emily Loughnane of Victoria, Australia, was already noticing the changes an Arbonne business could bring when her mother joined and built a successful future. With school finishing and university coming up fast, Emily realised she didn’t want to get stuck in the 9–5 box with only two days off a week — she wanted more out of life. She looked to Arbonne, as she had seen it be a vehicle for her own family to break out of the box. Emily jumped right in and hasn’t looked back.
I was 14 when Arbonne began to change my life. A complete stranger introduced my mum, ENVP Debbie Loughnane, to Arbonne from the other side of the world. We were living week by week, just getting by; never getting to experience and live the life of total freedom and abundance we only had dreamt of.
Growing up in a family that instilled strong work ethics and belief in me, it was only natural that I developed an entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up around fashion, I had dreamt of becoming a designer. Throughout high school, I worked hard to get the best possible score for my portfolios. I was exhausted and looking down the road to university. I was looking for something that could tick the box of freedom, spontaneous living, being my own boss, and having a big vision to break free from the traditional 9–5 grind and be a part of a movement for the next generation of everyday people living out extraordinary lives. I knew that my original plan was just not going to create that for me and there was so much evidence around me that this business did work.
At 21 years old and being Australia’s youngest Executive Regional Vice President, I feel so blessed to experience this early in my life. But I consider myself the luckiest girl because I’m able to work along side my mum, who has inspired me to be brave and breathe life into people like she has to me. We are closer now than ever. My little sister Tayla Loughnane joined when she turned 18, and I now get to pay this forward. The three of us build our businesses together as a family and it’s made my Why even bigger to inspire her to succeed.
As 20-somethings, we shouldn’t be conditioned to be tired, exhausted, broke, overweight and stressed, and spending 5 days of the week working at an unfulfilling job, to only enjoy the 2 days we have left each week. I am super blessed to have built a business that allows other people to wake up every day without an alarm clock and be lovers of life! They can predict what that day holds for them and we can truly design our own future! I so believe that I am at my happiest because I get to sprinkle joy and kindness into people’s lives just by choosing something different! Our life and our greatness should be celebrated daily!
There were times where I didn’t believe in myself, and I had to have a tough love conversation with myself. I had to decide if my target and dream were bigger than the lie of “fear” I would keep telling myself. This is the part of the journey where I jumped in with both feet, and I took full responsibility of my business. I stepped into the space of becoming a driven leader, and I took ownership of what I was doing. I remember as a little girl, my mum once said to me, “When you change, your whole world will change with you”. That has stuck with me my whole life. I decided to invest in myself and made a promise to grow and become the best version of myself. I decided to take this business seriously. I decided early on to surround myself with like-minded and supportive people. Our thought patterns and mindset are shaping our reality every day.
I wake up every single morning and ask myself, “So what does my perfect day look like?” What if you could do that every single day? As Gen Y’s, we don’t see the reason why we’d have work for another 50–60 years at a job that we hate, then retire, and then finally start having fun at 70. Why can’t we start having fun right now?
The world is so conscious of what is happening around us. Whatever the normal was 20–30 years ago is now ageing, and people are starting to wake up knowing there has to be more to life. I know I felt that way. We all know someone who wants to create spontaneous living, where you get on a plane that day just because you can, or create more choices for their lives. We all know someone who would love to create an additional income stream, or live a happier, healthier, more abundant life. This business has been a vehicle for so many in my life and my team to create that. These are exciting times for a 21st century entrepreneur. We’re able to create a massive global business from our phone, computer, and anywhere in the world.
Earning the Mercedes-Benz Cash Bonus and receiving the keys to your own white Mercedes-Benz is pretty awesome, but to be able to hand them to another two beautiful teammates and watch their whole lives transform — that is a whole new level of gratitude, fulfillment and joy I have never experienced before. ERVP Rachel Mau and RVP Amanda Holland have been such inspirations to me in this business, as friends and as world-class leaders. You girls make me smile from ear to ear! Thank you.
Thank you to my biggest support: my sister Tayla, my Dad, and to my partner Kane. Words will never be enough to show my gratitude and appreciation. You three have always believed in me and have been my number 1 supporters. You have no idea how much of an impact you are making on the world! Especially mine!
Thank you to my beautiful SuccessLine made up of Baby Boomers, Gen X’s and Gen Y’s. You are the next generation of game changers. As we grow, we’re making lifetime friends and memories together.
My mum, ENVP Debbie Loughnane, is a blessing more than she will ever know. I’m forever grateful for her presence, energy and love in my life. As a mother, leader and friend who brings out my greatness, I am forever thankful for her. Mum, you have raised the bar in Australia, and I am proud to be a part of your SuccessLine and your rocking team!
