Alicia Temmerman of Camberwell, Victoria, Australia, loved being a mother but struggled balancing her family while managing a successful legal career. But when presented with the Arbonne Opportunity, she seized the moment and has never looked back.

Before Arbonne, I thought life was pretty good, but I didn’t realise how stressed I was. My husband, Mark, and I had a 3-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son. After working in a top-tier law firm and then managing the investigations team for a government department, I had started my own legal/HR business to get greater flexibility and spend more time with my family. But, I was still working very long hours and still drained. I was making great money but was out of balance, working often into the early hours of the morning so I could try to spend as much time with my family as possible. I enjoyed my work, but fitting it all in with children was really challenging. I was exhausted.

In late 2012, one of my best friends, ENVP Penny Pellier-Cuit, told me she was going to start an Arbonne business. It didn’t make any sense to me at the time.

Penny wanted me to take a look at the business. I said to her that there was no way, that I was too busy, and that I wasn’t into skincare and makeup. I didn’t feel I could fit one more thing in my life. My ego was dead against it.

But there was an instinct that ignited, and I fell in love with the products. I have ultra-sensitive skin and was excited that my skin was not irritated, and I loved that the products were formulated without harmful chemicals. I had people commenting on my skin and was naturally keen to refer them to the products. I could see that it was a smart business model and would be flexible around our family.

I also read in the catalogue about a Consultant who said Arbonne gave her a “fourth baby.” I was confused at first, but later understood it to mean that Arbonne allowed her to have another child because of the flexibility and income provided. I really wanted one or two more babies, but my husband and I were not sure how we could juggle it all and manage financially.

In November 2012, I joined Penny as her first Consultant. We were so giggly and excited about it, but we had no idea what we were doing or how big this was going to be for us. I built my business on my excitement about the amazing products and the business model. I am passionate about helping others build their confidence as well as successful businesses of their own, and this was a perfect fit.

I exchanged the time spent watching TV to create a business. I integrated Arbonne into my social life and fitted it into spare pockets of my busy life. I immersed myself in the trainings. Penny and her sister, Katina Janev, both catapulted to RVP, and I felt inspired.

In April 2014, I promoted to RVP too. I named my team “Team Thrive” because I want everyone to thrive in life rather than just survive. Promoting to RVP was exciting, but it was more exciting when my friends Suzanne Aron and Tyla Millerd promoted to RVP the next year. Another friend, Samantha Donovan, promoted to RVP in December 2016, which was the same time I promoted to National Vice President. Being in business with old friends and new friends has been so motivating and fun!

Arbonne has ticked all the boxes by providing mentoring, personal growth, and fun; ultimate flexibility; merit-based compensation; and unbelievable rewards and recognition. I am so glad I didn’t miss this opportunity. I would have watched Penny’s life unfold and been kicking myself and thinking, “Why didn’t I just get over myself and have a go?”

In May 2015, Mark and I welcomed our third baby, Mariella, and in April 2017, we welcomed our fourth baby, Samuel. Thanks to Arbonne, I can put my family first. I run my business alongside my family, and I still do a small amount of legal work — but on my terms, in that I only take on work I enjoy.

Never in a million years would I have imagined myself doing this business. But I feel like I have found my people here. They talk my language, they inspire me, and our values align.

I am very proud and excited to be part of a business that provides so many things lacking in the corporate world, and to be in such an empowering profession working alongside so many impressive and authentic people.
